PHARMACY!!!
Welcome to the EU Pharmacy Faculty! We hope you are all having a great semester at uni. We are looking forward to a blessed semester ahead with excitement and in anticipation of what God has planned for His children in Pharmacy EU. Last semester was fantastic as we got to grow together in Christ through our small group Bible studies. We'd love for you to get involved and come along to all that's happening in EU pharmacy this semester, as we strive to be a faculty that is a visibly loving community of prayerful and committed, mature christians, who are trained and passionate to serve and to seek the lost all for God's glory.
Regards from your fac leaders, Sanjeeve and Rachel
PHARMACY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)God has richly blessed us with very keen and enthusiastic servants who are going to serve the EU pharmacy community by being on the EU pharmacy committee!! Results of the AGM on Monday wk8 include: Sanjeeve being Male Faculty leader Rachel George being Female Faculty leader Tina Xu, Samuel Ho, Vickie Leung and Joanne Chiang being committee members. :) Let us praise our awesome GOD for these people who have accepted their new positions to serve the rest of the EU pharmacy. May everything they say and do be an outward sign of love, originating from their love for our GOD.
2007 Semester 2 Small GroupsSmall GroupsFirst Year Small Groups are a chance to study the Bible together with other first years. The studies look at 'The Kingdom of God' in the gospel of Mark and the letters of Paul. It is a great opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of God's Word and meet other Pharmacy students. We also have mixed senior small groups for pharmacy students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th years where we will continue to learn how to be fully devoted Christians through our main theme for this semester, Understanding God's World.
SMALL GROUP TIMES Seniors:
1st years
Please contact Sanjeeve if you want to be involved in a small group or have any questions about these groups.
UPCOMING EVENTS!!!DIALOGUE DINNERS (Weeks 6, 7 and 8)!What is Dialogue Dinner? A Dialogue Dinner involves a few Christians inviting a non-Christian friend each out to dinner at an inner-city restaurant to discuss all things spiritual and Christian. EU christians pay for their non-christian's meal. You can also invite a friend of the EU who is good at and experienced in evangelism to join you for dinner and to facilitate the conversation. The setting is relaxed and friendly, and the opportunity to listen to where your friends are coming from and to discuss the Christian gospel is unique.
Why have a Dialogue Dinner? Our first aim or Object together as the EU at Sydney Uni is to present students with the Christian gospel and to lead them to a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Dialogue Dinners are a unique opportunity for us to do this in a relaxed and natural way...ie. over food! :).
Dates for Dialogue Dinners are to be finalised, hopefully some time during weeks 6 and 7, and are going to be organised by individuals in Small Groups, so start thinking about friends who you deeply care about, who need to hear the truth of God's grace.
PHARMACY PRAYER POINTSHello Pharmacy Christians, and fellow children of God. In following the example of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who constantly prayed for his disciples and for all believers (John 17:20), we should be continually challenging ourselves and encouraging our fellow Christians to be praying for each other. We are told by Paul, in the Ephesians 6:18 to 'pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests...always keep on praying for all the saints (the saints refer to us, the children of God). So, in accordance with God's will, here are some of the main prayer points for EU Pharmacy that we can pray about both as individuals, and with our fellow brothers and sisters, because 'The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.' (James 5:16)
1.Pray that we may have the courage to take the gospel personally to our friends.
2. Pray also that as christians in EU, we would look after the needs of each other, so that no one feels stressed or gets burnt out from doing both studies and the Lord's work at uni.
3. Praise God for the Pharmacy prayer breakfast we had on Thursday morning last week, that we as christians were able to meet up, have fellowship and pray for our country, Eu and our friends. We thank God in faith that He will answer our prayers.
4. Praise God for the Small group leaders who said yes. (Alan, Grace, Kendra, Sam, Karen and Stanton)We pray that God will bless them and fill them with His Holy Spirit, to equip them to teach God's word.
5. Pray that God would give us continued wisdom on how to keep connected through Synapse and this pharmacy website.
If anyone has any other prayer points they would like to be shown here for all of us to pray for, please feel free to contact one of the Pharmacy committee.
God Bless. DEVOTION
The Triumph of Christianity (By Spurgeon in light of our upcoming Dialogue Dinners!!)
"All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before Him, for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations"
[Psalm 22:27-28]
The conversion of the nations follows the usual rule, and by no means differs from the conversion of men at home. It is a remembering, a turning to the Lord, and a worshipping of Him. They turn to Christ, they look to him and are lightened; and then, straight away they begin to adore and reverence Him who has saved them. It is clear then that we are to seek the salvation of the nations by using the ordinary means. If we expect to see them saved in some extraordinary way, differing from what we have seen ourselves, we shall be disappointed and we shall be led into practical mistakes. We have nothing to do in foreign lands, but just what the apostle did in Asia Minor and what we are doing here; we are to preach Jesus Christ and him crucified . I[Spurgeon] do not believe that any race of men needs a peculiar gospel or novel mode of administering it. There may be different styles of preaching; God will give us those; but there need be no other mode of action than the apostolic one- 'they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word'. The mode prescribed in the marching orders of out grand Captain is this: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature"...not found schools, nor debate with sceptics, nor civilise but to 'preach the gospel'. Do this to every creature and the sure results will follow in one place as in another; men shall remember, shall turn to the Lord and shall worship him. Dear unconverted person, the very best means for you conversion are being employed now; and therefore I[Spurgeon] would have you remember that if these fail, neither would you be converted 'though one rose from the dead'. This deserves your solemn consideration and I[Spurgeon] beseech you to lay it to heart.
Let us not forget our calling as Christians to preach the gospel to everyone. For by God's grace, he has called us to share in his eternal kingdom. Should we not also share this amazing grace with others, by telling them the gospel?
Amen
