Christians At Law School Welcome to the home page of Christians at Law School! Commonly known as CALS, the Christians at Law School group is a made up of Christian students studying in their last two years (4th & 5th year) of Combined Law, or doing Graduate Law or postgraduate law studies at the Sydney University Law School. (1st, 2nd and 3rd year Combined Law students are looked after by our brothers and sisters in the Arts, Science, Economics and Engineering faculties of the EU.) We meet at the St James Campus, in the heart of the legal district of the Sydney CBD, usually in the underground lecture theatres affectionately known as the "Dungeons". Our vision at CALS is: To be a prayerful community characterised by grace, truth and love that exists to: • Proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord; and • Encourage students to submit their lives to Him and live with a particular concern for justice and equity in their personal and professional lives. CALS welcomes anyone to its meetings - whether you're a Christian or whether you're just wanting to find out more about Jesus, you are very welcome to come along. If you need further details after reading this page, please don't hesitate to contact Beth or James for more information.
What's happening? Public Meetings CALS runs public meetings throughout the semester. They are a chance to be encouraged and challenged from God's word through talks and training from the Bible; and to meet with other CALS members. Our public meetings are held at the following times:
The meeting room will be advised as soon as possible. We will be meeting between Weeks 2 and 12.
To start off the year we are holding a lunchtime social in Week 1. Meet in the foyer (Level 4 of the Law School) at 1pm (on Wednesdays) or 12pm (on Thursdays) and we will head over to Hyde Park or the Domain. Bring your lunch or some money to buy some.
Small Groups In a new initiative for 2008, CALS will also be running a couple of small group Bible studies this year. This will be a wonderful chance to meet together with a small number of your brothers and sisters at CALS, to read the Bible together and to share and pray with one another. Groups will be run fornightly, and will either run before class, during lunch times or at another time that suits group members.
Other dates for your diary...
