Faculty Committee
Welcome to euArts for 2008!The EU Arts Faculty is made up of Christian students at Sydney University studying Arts, Liberal Studies and other related degrees. We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and is turning the world upside down: changing despair into hope, hatred into peace, and indifference into love. If you are a follower of Jesus, trying to work him out, or even if you're downright sceptical, you are welcome with us! Here's our vision: The Big Idea for 20082008 has a special focus. In semester 2, the EU is running a campus-wide festival over two weeks called re:Jesus. It will involve stacks of relational events, gospel talks and festival type stuff. We as a faculty will have a key role to play in this – both in planning and preparing for events, but also in building and developing relationships which can lead to invitations to any of the festival activities.
Small GroupsSmall groups are on again in 8. They'll be starting back in week 2, and we need to know when you're available so we can put you into a group. If you haven't filled in a gold form with your availabilities or emailed your timetable to Angus and Sarah, now is the time for action! Email us your timetables and we'll find a group for you! Here at the EU, we run two different types of small group Bible studies. First Year Small Groups If you're in first year at Sydney University, you'll want to come along to a first year small group. They are a chance to meet with other first year Christian Arts students, as well as meeting some older Arts EUers who lead the groups. The studies look at 'The Kingdom of God' in the gospel of Mark and the letters of Paul. They're a great opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of God's Word, meet with other Arts students, and encourage each other by praying with and for each other. Senior Small Groups Senior small groups are run for students who are in second year or above. They are also an excellent opportunity to dig deeper into God's Word, and this year we have an exciting new program looking at how we understand, love and serve God, the church and our world. Senior small groups also provide a chance to meet other Arts students and to encourage and be encouraged by others in your group. Whether you've been in a small group before or are just interested in checking one out, we'd love to have you! Engaging with Atheism SeminarIf you missed coming along to the Arts fac eQuip training hour where we had a look at atheism, that's ok. We've now got a recording of the hour up online. Log in and the link will appear on this page! PrayerPrayer is at the core of our relationship with God. It is the way in which we bring our thoughts, requests and anxieties before our great Lord and express our dependence on Him. 2007 is going to be a year of massive opportunities: faculty-based evangelism events, Public Meetings, small groups and the all-union Evangelism (Resources) Team working to train and develop EUers to be better equipped for service...it will be a year to engage with ideas and the world in a cross-shaped way. There are many plans that will God-willing see many of campus come to hear about and know Christ and him crucified. Keep praying for our university, the EU, the other faculties within the EU. Also pray that God, in his mercy, would reveal himself to many on campus this year that they may come to know him. Regular prayer for our faculty can really make a huge difference. Contact us if you'd like to receive the weekly Arts prayer bulletin. PRAY! Mens Weekend Away-for news on how things went watch this spot-
