Who are we?

PBF is a group of Christian sydney uni postgrads & staff who meet to learn from God's word, pray together and support each other as we seek to be salt and light in our place at uni.

Our group is refreshingly diverse; being interdenominational, staff-student, and even interfaculty! We have typically consisted of research-based postgrads, research staff, teaching staff, and general uni staff.

Cite is the national missions conference for academia. Take time at the end of the year to gather with Australia's Christian thinkers to be challenged, inspired, and equipped as ambassadors for Christ at the university and through the university to the world.

Cite runs in parallel with the National Training Event (NTE), the training and missions conference of the AFES. We share meals together with over 1500 students from around the Australian and the Pacific islands, as well as join them for the evening Bible teaching sessions, the theme of which, in 2011, is In Christ.

December 3-7 in Canberra. PBF will be taking some big tents and will be staying in the camping ground. More information here.

What's on in 2011?

Post Grad and Staff Groups

PBF meets across the university in a number of different small groups. These groups are a great opportunity to: be encouraged and challenged in your faith, supported as Christian postgraduate or staff member working within the university, and to bring any questions you may have about the claims made by Jesus Christ.  Details for these groups are as follows:

1. Holme Bible Study: Monday’s 1pm in the Bohan Bilinsky room. Contact Matt Wardrop (0402 197 395) or Brett Layden (0401 277 848) for more information.


2. Darlington Bible Study: Monday’s 1pm in IT 302. Contact Phil Yeoh (0433 128 918) and Kurt Gubi (0402 976 866) for more information.


3. Manning Bible Study: Thursday’s 12pm meeting in the foyer of the Education building, Level 3. Caitlin Munday (0402 738 132) and Matt Moffitt (0402 715 096) will be leading this group.

4. Wentworth Reading Group: Tuesday’s 8.30am in Azzuris Cafe, Wentworth Level 2. Contact Daniel Graham (0416 655 607) for more information.


5. Chemistry Prayer Group: A fortnightly prayer group for students and staff in the Chem Building. Contact Rob Chapman (0411 834 349) for more information.

6. Fisher Reading/Prayer Group: Friday's 2pm meeting under the big tree outside Fisher library. This group alternates weekly from a reading group to a prayer group. They're currently reading Hannah's Child by Stanley Hauerwas. Contact Andrew Cooper (0414243327) for more information.

7. Missenden Rd Group: Wednesday at 12.30 in the Medical Foundation Building. If you work at the Missenden Rd/RPA end of campus, and would be keen to join a study, please contact Katie Hodgetts (0412 155 064).

8. Pharmacy Prayer Group: For postgraduate students or faculty members in Pharmacy, this group meets on Wednesday mornings at 11am outside the Bank Building. Contact Jono Penm if you're interested.

9. PGARC Liturgy Group: Meeting at 9.30 in the Fisher Bunker. Contact Andrew Cooper (0414243327) for details.
