Serving
We really value the role Public Meetings play within the EU and at Sydney Uni. Public Meetings are the EU's place of weekly public teaching, as well as a regular evangelistic event. Public Meetings are the public face of EU to Sydney Uni, and the place that EUers come to be stretched and grow from God's word.
Putting on public meetings every week takes a lot of effort. It takes at least 60 people to make everything happen! Public Meetings provide an amazing chance for EUers to come together, use their gifts and serve each other. There are all sorts of ways to serve at Public Meetings.
Some jobs happen in the week leading up to a public meeting:
designing advertising
designing powerpoints
designing outlines
printing
postering
chalking.
Some jobs happen just before, during or after the meeting itself:
folding outlines
setting up
ushering
welcoming
packing away
connecting visitors to their faculties.
There are even opportunities to serve occasionally in other ways. If you enjoy playing music, maybe you could play once or twice during afternoon tea. If you enjoy cooking, you might be able to bring exciting afternoon tea food for special events. Or maybe you'd like to go postering or chalking one week with your small group.
These jobs aren't very difficult or glorious, but they are very important because they enable us to proclaim the gospel week by week. If you would like to be involved in serving at Public Meetings, please contact the PM Senior Student, sign up at Ancon or Runway or mention it on your feedback slip at Public Meeting.
